Production of the new Ford Transit Courier is underway, and this updated Courier is looking to be a very impressive vehicle. Ford’s press release includes a lot of new features and upgrades that could make this a popular choice in the small van market.
Let’s have a look at some of the upgrades Ford is demonstrating.
The new Courier design brings increased load space and payload for greater performance. The 25% load space increase allows for two Euro pallets to be carried by the new model.
The exterior has had an upgrade too, with the new front-end more reminiscent of a modern SUV than a van.
In the cab, the redesign has followed customer feedback to increase productivity and comfort while in the van. Ford Pro connectivity comes as standard, and the vehicle comes packed with driver assistance technology.
- Lane-Keeping System
- Pre-Collision Assist
- Intelligent Speed Assist
- Rear parking sensors
Additional options include:
- Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control – with Stop & Go and Lane Centring with the automatic transmission
- Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert
- Intersection Assist
- Reverse Brake Assist
A digital instrument panel and touchscreen are fitted as standard, and are compatible with Ford SYNC 4 (the latest version), Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, the cabin redesign has included a greater array of storage bins and holders for phone, tablet, drinks, and more.
Two variants of the van will be available, a standard version and a high-payload model fitted with dual springs. The high-payload version will be able to carry 854kg – rivalling some medium vans.
There will be four trim levels of the new Courier – Leader, Trend, Limited, and Active. The Limited spec will have a rear-view camera, keyless start, and a wireless charging pad as standard.
While the new Ford Transit Courier is not available for lease at Van Ninja just yet, stock should begin to arrive over the next few months. Watch this space for more information.
