Details of the latest version of the iconic Volkswagen Transporter have been released, showing modern reinvention while maintaining the DNA of the vehicle.
This will be the seventh generation of the VW Transporter, and VW has incorporated elements of the previous generations into the design.
Albert Kirzinger, Chief Designer of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, explained, “We are transferring the DNA of our icon into modern times with the completely new Transporter. The details of the seventh Bulli generation pick up the characteristic design features of its six predecessors and give them a new interpretation.”
The front design of the new Transporter combines elements from previous generations with modern enhancements, with a radiator grille reminiscent of the T5, and headlights that echo the T6.1.
The side profile remains recognisably a Transporter, while adding headlight features that blend into contour lines along the sides, and the new Transporter has fresh alloy wheels.
The Transporter interior has also had a redesign, featuring high-quality materials and advanced technology in a spacious and comfortable cabin. Connectivity and safety have been upgraded, with modern driver assistance systems and advanced multimedia options.
According to Volkswagen, the design philosophy surrounding the Transporter is rooted in versatility, with a range of configurations available that allow good transportation, providing services, or as a mobile office.
There is also a plug-in hybrid and all-electric version for environmentally friendly driving.
We expect further details to be released in due time, including the full specification of the new Volkswagen Transporter, but until then we have this image and the VW press release to go by.
The new VW Transporter is already available for pre-sales across Europe, with the market launch scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.
