Gecko MagicWay Panel Van Revealed

The IAA International Commercial Vehicle Show in Germany has debuted a host of new vehicles and concepts this year. Among them is Gecko Motors’ first European option, the MagicWay.

The Gecko MagicWay is a 3.5t light commercial vehicle with a pure electric range of 550km (341 miles), which can be pushed to over 1,000km (621 miles) with the range-extended electric vehicle version (REEV).

The new electric van presents a distinctive look, with modern lines and a large windscreen affording excellent visibility.

Gecko boasts that, by using an “innovative skateboard chassis design”, the MagicWay has the largest cargo compartment and cab space in its class. It can provide a maximum payload of up to 1805kg, which comfortably outstrips other 3.5t vans, along with a load space volume that, depending on the body size, ranges from 7.2m3 to 11.1m3.

As the chassis has a curb weight of only 1.63t, there is a lot of scope for modification and custom bodies, such as Luton boxes, fridges, and more.

Standard features include keyless entry and start, a 12” touchscreen, automatic air conditioning, Bluetooth, CarPlay, and much more.

Further options that can be added include heated seats and wheels, parking radar, and a 360-degree panoramic image for manoeuvring.

Jeff Liu, founder and chairman of Gecko Motors, said: “Expanding into the European market is a pivotal achievement for Gecko Motors, underscoring our dedication to innovation and sustainability with the introduction of the MagicWay electric van.

“Europe leads the global transition toward smarter transportation, and we are thrilled to play a key role in this evolution with our advanced digital chassis technology.”

The Gecko MagicWay will be available in a range of models, including a crew vehicle, a chassis cab, and a standard panel van.

It is expected to enter production in 2025.
